The topic of this book hits near and dear to me. As a little girl, I’ve always wanted to be a pro surfer as a hobby. However, growing up, not only was I never given the opportunity to learn, there were no other surfers that looked like me.
As I got older I started learning more about the sport, but also, I started learning more about surfers of other cultures. What was shocking to learn was how whitewashed the sport was and that there were actually a lot of surfers who were of African decent, along with entire organizations such as the Black Surfing Association and Black Girls Surf.
So come along this journey as we go through The Ways of Surfing!
